Client Feedback

What studio managers and production teams tell us about working with factolio on their live television studios.

In their words

Experiences from studios we have worked with

These notes come from clients who asked us to plan, fit out or review a live studio. They describe how the work went day to day, in their own terms.

Rebecca Thornley Studio Manager, regional news producer

“Helen's team specified the routing and intercom for our news studio and tested every path before we went live. The first week on air was uneventful, which is exactly what we wanted. The handover notes were clear enough for our own engineers to follow.”

Martin Ashworth Head of Production, independent programme maker

“Our interview room echoed badly and dialogue never sounded clean. Priya measured the room, explained the options plainly and the treatment she recommended made a clear difference. We now spend far less time fixing speech in the edit.”

Alison Greaves Executive Producer, live discussion programme

“Callum redrew our lighting plot and camera layout for a three-camera discussion show. Presenters look consistent from one episode to the next, and he trained our crew to rebuild the setup quickly. The notes he left are still on the gallery wall.”

Stephen Pryor Technical Operations Lead, community broadcaster

“Daniel reviewed our gallery procedures and found two signal paths with no fallback. His written report was practical, ordered by priority and free of jargon. We fixed the main items within a month and the crew feels calmer during live shows.”

How we listen

What clients ask us to keep doing

Most of the feedback we receive is about ordinary things done carefully. Clients mention that we measured before recommending, wrote down what we agreed and left the studio in a state their own crew could operate without us. Those habits matter more to us than any single piece of equipment we specify.

We ask for comments once a project has been on air for a few weeks, because that is when problems show themselves. A rig that looked fine in testing may be awkward during a long live programme, and a fallback plan only proves its worth when something actually fails.

Where feedback points to something we could have explained better, we change how we write our handover documents or how we brief crews. Over the years this has made our reports shorter, our diagrams cleaner and our training sessions more hands-on.

Clients also tell us what they would do differently. Some wish they had involved their presenters earlier in lighting decisions, others would have measured room noise before choosing a space. We pass that experience on to the next studio we plan.
