The four people who plan and run our studio work

factolio

Engineering, lighting, acoustics and workflow each have a named lead at factolio, so you always know who is responsible for which part of your project.

How we work

A small team with clear areas of responsibility

factolio has been based in Reading since Helen Marsden founded it in 2013. The team has stayed small on purpose. Each project is led by the specialist whose area it falls in, and the others contribute where their work overlaps. This keeps decisions close to the people who understand the detail.

Helen leads equipment integration and system design, drawing on years of commissioning live studios. Callum plans lighting plots and camera layouts, and trains in-house crews so setups can be repeated. Priya handles measurement and treatment of studio rooms, while Daniel reviews gallery procedures and writes the documents crews rely on during broadcasts.

On a larger job, the four of us meet early to compare notes. A lighting grid affects acoustics, a camera position affects cabling, and a fallback plan affects how the gallery is laid out. Talking about these links before work starts prevents rework on site.

We write things down. Quotations, survey notes, drawings and operating guides are handed to you in plain language, so your own crew can keep the studio running long after we have gone. We would rather be asked fewer questions later than more.

We also say no when a request is outside what we do well. If a project needs something we do not offer, we tell you at the first conversation rather than stretching the scope and learning on your studio.
